FAIR TO FINE AND COOL Forecast for Otago.—The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Fresh but decreasing southwesterly to westerly winds. Weather fair to fine and cool. Seas moderate to rather rough. Dominion Forecast.—Pressure remains high- to the north-east of New Zealand and is rising again rapidly in the south behind a depression which lies across the South Island. A low pressure centre is located in the western Tasman Sea. Weather unsettled in the central provinces, with rain at times, but fair to fine in the northern and southern extremities of the Dominion. Temperatures mild in the north, but cold in the south, with inland frosts at night. ; Weather in Dunedin: Dull and overcast conditions prevailed in Dunedin yesterday; The weather was warm and humid in the morning, but the temperature later dropped several degrees when a moderate south-west breeze arose. The maximum temperature was 63 degrees, and the barometer rose steadily, the reading at midnight being 30.20 "inches (1023 millibars). Barometer (inches and millibars): 8 a.m., 29.85 (1011): noon, 29.95 (1014); 8 p.m., 30.05 (1018); midnight, 30.20 (1023). Thermometer: 8 a.m., 62deg; noon, 57deg; 6 p.m., 53deg; midnight, 48deg. Maximum, 63deg; minimum, 47deg. Rainfall for 24 hours ended midnight yesterday —nil. Sunshine for 24 hours ended midnight yesterday: Before noon, nil; after noon, nil.
