Spence General Cr Purvis, speaking on the ranger's report, said that stray dogs were worrying sheep in the district. Shaw on work done in the various ridings during the month was adopted A resolution confirming a proposal to raise a loan or £2OOO from the State Advances Department for the purpose ol making advances under the Rural Housinp Act, was adopted. Mr A. Thomas wrote asking tot the provision of access to his property in the Moeraki district, and the application was supported by the Public Works Department, which agreed to subsidise (he cost to the council.---The application was held over pending a further investigation of the matter. Cr Ross said he thought the whole organisation should be undertaken by the Government. He believed that if the country were invaded the country districts would be filled up with refugees from the cities. It was agreed that the only scheme that could be adopted was that put forward by the chairman, and this was done, councillors remarking that, at this stage, the organisation of food supplies and transport could not be dealt with
