ALBION CLUB The annual meeting of the Albion Cricket Club was held last night, Mr F. N Binney presiding. Reviewing the activities of the club in the past year, Mr Binney referred to the success of the club's senior eleven In winning the fielding trophy. The club's finances were highly satisfactory. He referred to the loss the club had suffered through enlistments in the armed forces and said that one of the most important events of the year was the amalgamation of the club with the Y.M.C.A. Club. He was sure the amalgamation would be of great value to the game and to the members of both clubs. Mr Binney expressed appreciation of the work of the umpires during the season, and appealed for support for the Umpires' Association. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr H. J. Duncan, the report and balance sheet were adopted. The following office-bearers were elected:—Patron, Sir James Allen, M.L.C.; president, Mr F. N. Binney; secretary, Mr L. Eskrick; treasurer. Mr C. J Darracott: committee—Messrs F. Breeze, J. H. Don Miller, S. F. Duncan, A. Sinclair, and Langford Smith: auditors, Messrs H. J. Duncan and G. A. Bertenshaw; selection committee, Messrs S F Duncan and Langford Smith. After a short discussion on the Endo. inent Fund of the association, it was decided that the club was in favour of the scheme being discontinued for the duration of the war. It was decided that members ol the club in the armed forces overseas be elected honorary members of the club. The club's delegates to the association's annual meeting were instructed to support the playing of two-day matches in senior and intermediate grades. UNIVERSITY CLUB The annual meeting of the Otago University Cricket Club was held in the University buildings, Dr A. R. Andrew presiding over an , attendance of about 30 members. The secretary (Mr D. A. Morrison) presented the annual report, the adoption of which was moved by the president and carried. Trophies for the 1939-40 season were presented by Mr W. Watters to the following:—First Eleven, batting, C. Toomey; First Eleven, bowling. N. C. Begg: best junior performance, B. R. Hay. Congratulations were extended to N. C. Begg, C. Toomey, A. Lawson on gaining representative honours; to L. C. Baker, who was a member of the Otago Colts' and New Zealand Colts' teams; and to D. A Morrison, who also played for the colts. The office-bearers for the coming year were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr W. J. Morrell; president, Dr A. R. Andrew; vicepresidents—Sir James Allen, Messrs I. A. Hanan, W J Strong, W. F. Watters. W. lan; club delegates to the Otago Cricket Association—Messrs W. Armitage, W. Harvey, A. Lawson.

It was decided that practices should start on September 28, and that the opening day should be October 5. Several members expressed strong disapproval of the continuance of subscribing to the endowment scheme for the duration of the war, and a motion was passed instructing the delegates to place before the O.C.A. the opinions of the club.
