REPORTS OF COMMITTEES The following is a summary of me reports of the various committees which will be presented at the monthly meeting of the Otago Hospital Board on Thursday night:— Benevolent Committee The Benevolent Committee will report having dealt with 43 casual cases for relief amounting to £67 16s Bd. During the month five persons were admitted to. one was discharged from, and two deaths had occurred in the infirmary ward and Talboys Home. At present there were 123 inmates in the institutions. Hospital Committee The Hospital Committee will recommend the acceptance of the tender of Messrs R. Mitchell and Sons, Ltd., for alterations a: d an additional storey to the Nurses' Home, and will report that the amended tender from the Love Construction Company, Ltd.. for the erection of accommodation for nurses at the Talboys Home, in terms of the altered specification, has been approved. The committee will further report that approval has been received from the New Zealand Crippled Children Society (Dunedir. branch) and the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and New Zealand Red Cross Society of the appointment of Miss Walden as the bursar for training in iccupational therapy. Financt Committci The Finance Committee will recommend that the offer of the directorgeneral of health of a grant to be made to the board for alterations and additions at Talboys Home be accepted on the conditions that when the Minister decides that the additional accommodation is no longer required for the purpose of providing for sick and wounded soldiers, and can be used for the ordinary purposes of the board, the board shall be required to pay to the Government the amount of the grant, provided that such repayment may be by equal annual instalments over a period not exceeding 20 years, with interest charge at the rate then current for hospital board loans.
