Mr F J. Williams was a passenger by the through express on Saturday.
Mr A Ben Fuller, managing director of Fuller's Theatre Corporation. Ltd.. and Mr William Burton, general manager for John Fuller and Sons (N.Z.). Ltd. arrived from the south on Saturday'in the course of a business visit to South Island theatres.
The appointment of Mr J. N. Woollams as secretary of the Auckland Gas Company. Ltd., as successor to the late Mr E. D. Ashton. is announced by the directors of the company. Mr Woollams was born at Coromandel. and has been associated with the company for the greater part of his business career. Passengers by the north-bound Union Airways plane on Saturday were Mrs E F Kain, Mrs R. McQuilken, Mr S. McLean, Miss J Woodward and Mr G Sevick Jones for Christchurch Mr A E. Hayman for Wellington, Mrs R. J. Foreman and Mr W Cowderv for Auckland.
Two well-Known Auckland yachtsmen Messrs F. E. R. Merritt and J. F. A. O'Neill, who have been granted temporary commissions, with the rank of sub-lieutenant, in the Royal Navy, under Scheme A of the .Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, are on their way to England to take up their duties.
