COMPULSORY LOAN

ANNOUNCEMENT NEXT WEEK STATEMENT BY MINISTER (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 21. The particulars of the compulsory war loan, a warming of which was given last June, will be announced next week, said the Minister of Finance. (Mr W. Nash) to-day. The loan is authorised under the Finance Emergency Regulations No. 2, which give the Minister power to call a commilsory loan, with the right of appeal, %■•> be used to obtain contributions to che War Purposes Loan. Although the Minister did not indicate to-day the nature of the loan, it is believed that it will follow on lines similar to the levy introduced during the last war, in which contributions were based on income tax payments.
