NORTH-EAST VALLEY CLUB At the annual meeting of the NorthEast Valley Cricket Club, the president (Mr G. Newey) occupied the chair. Moving the adoption of the annual, report, the chairman referred to the success of the intermediate team in winning its grade competition, and of the second team in being equal with St. Kilda in first place in the Second Grade B No. 1 competition. It was a fine gesture on the part of the club, he said, to lend the Government £ls free of interest, and 1 hehoped that it would be an inspiration to others to follow. Mr J. Anderson seconded the motion, which was carried. The treasurer (Mr R. H. Oxley), moving the adoption of the financial statement, said that the credit balance stood at £4O 9s—an increase of £9 on last year. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr A. E. Ansell; president, Mr G. Newey; club captain, Mr R. Millar; hon. secretary, Mr G. Anderson; assistant secretary, Mr J. Anderson; treasurer, Mr R. H. Oxley, practice captains, Messrs T. Hughes and F. Dunn; committee—Messrs R. Peart, W. Wallace, A. McLintock, R. Jones, A. Mackle; delegate to the association, Mr T. Hughes; selectors, Messrs W. Hughes and T. Hughes; delegate to Sports' Protection Association, Mr G. Anderson; hon. auditors, Messrs H. Cullen and A. Riach.

Trophies were presented as follows: Bedford Trophy (club batting average), I. A. Jones; Intermediate—batting, T. Hughes; bowling. J. Cullen; Second Grade —batting, I. A. Jones; bowling, B. Gillespie; Third Grade—batting, A. Mackle; bowling, K. Brooks. The endowment scheme was fully discussed.—Mr R. H. Oxley said that players would be giving freely to patriotic efforts, and for this reason the association should let the scheme stand over for the period of the war.—Mr R. Jones stated that the only ones not contributing to the scheme would be those who had left to fight for their country, and it was the duty of those left behind to do all in their power to make sure that grounds and other facilities were kept'at their best for the use of the returned men, He favoured the supporting of the present scheme. The delegate to the annual meeting of the association was given a free hand in this and in the proposal that one-day matches be played in the coming season. The opening day was set down for October 5, on the Gardens Reserve. TAIERI CLUB ANNUAL MEETING Mr L. McAdam presided at the annual meeting of the Taieri Cricket Club. Reviewing last season's cricket, the chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report, said that the year had been a very successful one for all of the four teams. Mr. Scott seconded the motion. The trophies for averages gained during the season were presented. S. Kirk gained the Roy Greaves Cup for bowling. The cup for the best bowling average in the club went to R. Graham, and J. Kirk F Thorn, J. Renton, W. Johnson, J Fogo, E. Chiles and D. Bowie; auditor, Mr A. H. Cooke; trustees, Messrs W. Scott and I. Hendry; delegate to the Otago Association, Mr L.
