KIWI SWIMMING CLUB
SUCCESSFUL YEAR REVIEWED The annual meeting of the Kiwi Amateur Swimming Club was held last night, the president (Mr D. F, Watson) occupying the chair. There was an attendance of about 150 members. Annual Report Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the chairman congratulated the club on having brought to a close what was probably the most successful year in its history. Kiwi members had done extremely well in competition swimming, and this reflected the greatest credit on the coaches. Tile finances of the club were in a healthy state, thanks to the efforts of a band of enthusiastic workers, and while, during the coming year, It might be necessary to use the pruning knife on the funds, this would be done with discretion. Mr S. Brown seconded the motion, which was carried. Election of Officers The following office-bearers were elected;—Patrons, Messrs A. Greig and S. Brown; vice-patron, Dr W. Evans; president, Mr Don Watson; deputy-chairman, Mr C. J. Leeden; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr E. C. Isaacs: assistant honorary secretary and treasurer, Miss I. Purdie; lady vice-presidents—Mrs P. H. C. Boulton, Mrs W. S. Hindmarsh, Mrs E. C. Isaacs, Mrs E. Lang: club captain, Mr A. Thomas: deputy club captain. Mr D. Freeman; ladies’ captain, Miss Agnes Brown; ladies’ deputy-captain, Miss W. Dunn; committee—Messrs A. Thomas;, W H. Dyson, A. J. Leeden, R. Harvey, J. G. Reid, M, Taylor, D. Freeman, H. T. Emmerson, X. Ha!). Misses A. Brown, W. Dunn, E. Abernathy. E. Goldthorpe, M. Martin, K. Lane: delegates to Otago branch N. Messrs E. C. Isaacs, D. F. Watson, H. R. de Crewe; delegates to Otago branch Royal Life-saving Society, Messrs W. H. Dyson. D, Reid. Fourteen vice-presidents were re-elected, the names of Messrs E. A. Newman, D. Reid, and D. Pickard being added to the list. General It was decided that swimming and diving club handicap competitions should be commenced during the first week in October. , . It was decided to recommend to the incoming committee that carnivals for aggregate trophies should be held at Intervals during the season, contingent on satisfactory arrangements being made with the : City Council regarding the use of the Municipal Baths.
