The monthly meeting of the Tahakopa Institute took place on Thursday last, when Mrs J. Stoddart was in the chair. The motto ’was “ Promise oneself to think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect the best,” and the roll call, “ Uses for a safety pin.” Miss C. Skey demonstrated bn “ Faggotting,” and showed how effectively this stitch could be used in blouse trimming, Mrs Anglem moved a vote of thanks. The competitions resulted:—Handkerchief from a saltbag—Mrs Silcock 1, Mrs Harrington 2; bloom—Mrs Silcock 1. Mesdames Stott, and Harrington (equal) 2. Mrs Silcock served supper.
