UNCEASING BLOWS
COUNTER TO INVASION (By Radio) LONDON, Sept. 16. (Received Sept. 16, at 11.45 p m.) Though . for obvious reasons official reticence must be maintained on the measures being taken to forestall an invasion of' England, it has been learned that night after night our forces are carrying out a great offensive against the Germans. From as far away as the British coast fires and explosions are seen nightly on the other side of the Channel, and the Air Force strikes unceasingly at German concentrations and cdniinunications from Norway to the Bay of Biscay. It is also known that small units of the Navy have been in action in the Channel and that the Grand Fleet stands ready to deal with any possible invaders from Norway. The Germans shelled Dover from the French coast again this morning. Four salvoes were fired while many people were in the streets shopping, but there were no casualties and no damage is reported. The British long-range guns replied.
