TAIERI ANGLERS' CLUB
ANNUAL SOCIAL The annual social of the Taieri Anglers’ Club was held in the Fire Brigade Hall, Mosgiel. The retiring president (Mr J. Campbell), who was in the chair, made reference to the death during the past season of Mr J. Ritchie, one of the club’s oldest members. The officers for the year were elected as follows; President, Mr D. Stewart; senior vice-president. Mr J Anderson: junior vice-president, Mr C. Bryce; Immediate past president, Mr J. Campbell; joint secretaries, Messrs C Cameron and A. Thomson; auditor, Mr P. Ralston; committee— Messrs J. Poland, G. Hendry, W. Ritchie. S. McDonald, W. Orchard, W. Mehalski, H. North. F. Ferguson. A. Murdoch, and S McMillan, A toast list was honoured, as follows: “ Otago Acclimatisation Society ” (Mr Fountain-Mr Barnes) In responding Mr Barnes gave an interesting address on acclimatisation matters. “ Otago Anglers’ Association” (Mr G. McKay); "Sister Sports” (Mr S. McMillan). Items were contributed by the following; Mr Reid Scott (pianist and songs), Mr J. Mutch (songs), Mr W. Johnstone (piano accordion). Mr N Stratton (bagpipes), Mr B. Wilkins (songs and conjuring), Mr J. Wilson (humorous songs). Awards tor the Year
