Happy Locanda took the lead alter two furlongs in the Seaview Handicap, with Lady Vasclyne. Jovial, Great Blaze, and Philario handy Ned Worthy then moved up, taking the lead with a mile to go. Philario and Happy Locanda followed him along the back and to the straight, where Mendel and Worthy Need joined in. Ned Worthy won decisively, while Jovial finished fast, beating Happy Locanda narrowly for second Worthy Need was next Then came Willow Bank. The stewards were not satisfied with li.e driving of Willow Bank by D C. Watts, but after a lengthy inquiry they decided there vas insufficient evidence to warrant further action Paloinar sc the pace most ol the way m he Harper Handicap hut faded out in the straight. Ringtrue, Waitaki Power, and Guncase followed the leadei early, while Harold Guy and Kenworthy moved up at the end 6i a mile Ferry Post, wide out made a brilliant run round tiie field at .he home turn and won easily—an impressive performance. Harold Guy hung on to beat Kcnworlhy for second,' with Cruiser finishing fasl only a head away. Bush Laddie look the lead in the Spring Handicap after a furlong, but broke. Escalado then went to the front, opening out a gap with Parrish Guide, Manna’s Son. Mohican, and Gyrate next Blue Logan moved up along (he back Escalado was beaten three furlongs from home. Manna’s son then held place in the lead, but had not much in hand to beat Blue Logan, who came home fast after breaking a furlong from the post Tan John made up a lot of ground in the final stages, but Amonos came with a late rush and cut him out of third place. Mankind and Great Don made the pace in the Wainoni Handicap, with Labourman, Kenwortby, Loyal Pat, and Waitaki Power following ail the way to the home turn, where Sandusky and Worthy Need were also handy. The early leaders stopped when the straight was reached. Kenworthy then shot out. stalling off Waitaki Power narrowly. Sandusky was third, and seemed unlucky in the running. Labourman and Worthy Need headed the others. . , Mendel lost ground at the start ol tne Electric Handicap, and Aircraft set the pace well clear of Sports Review. Happy Locanda, and Aldershot, while Mendel was next after two furlongs. Aircraft still led narrowly to the straight, where he dropped back third. Sports Review then took charge and stalled off Happy Locanda by a head. Aircraft hung on to get third from Mendel, who would have been dangerous had he gone off smoothly.
