Women’s Bowling Tlie annual meeting of the women’s section of the Tapanui Bowling Club was held in the pavilion on Thursday afternoon, when the president, Mrs T. Varcoe. presided over a good attendance of members. The report and balance sheet, which were read by the secretary, disclosed a sound position. Although the weather conditions last season were not favourable for bowlers, many pleasant and interesting games and matches had taken place. Before vacating the chair, Mrs Varcoe thanked the ladies for their support, and also the men’s section for the many courtesies during her term of office. The'election of officers for the ensuing vear resulted as follows: —President. Mrs ,T. A. McDonald: vice-president, Mrs T. Varcoe: secretary, Mrs James McFeeters: committee—the 'office-bearers and Mesdames W. B. Naylor and J. M. Moffitt. MAYFAIR THEATRE There is good entertainment provided by the current double-feature programme at the Mayfair Theatre. "Four Daughters ” is a family drama which is wholly charming and refreshing. The interwoven stories of the romantic troubles of the four girls are all remarkably well handled by a cast which includes the Lane sisters, John Garfield, and Claude Rains. “ The Magnificent Fraud,” with Akim Tamii-off in the leading role, is the other film. It tells of the last and greatest impersonation of an actor who is being hunted by the French Surete—no less than the impersonation of the role of the dictator of a South American State when reasons of policy make it necessary to conceal the fact of his assassination. The box plans are at the theatre and the D.I.C.
