WOMEN’S HOCKEY
REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES Mrs Sonntag presided over the executive meeting of the Women’s Hockey Association this. week. ■ It was reported that the seven-a-side tournament had resulted in Kings winning the A Grade and Bounty the B Grade, after a successful tournament. The primary schoolgirls' tournament postponed last week will now be played on Saturday morning, Permission was granted to the Dunedin Club to travel to Balclutha on September 21. and to the primary schoolboys to hold their tournament during the week on the association’s grounds on the Oval. Mrs C. Sonntag and Mrs C. Quaid very appointed delegates to attend a meeting of sports bodies under the Physical Welfare and Recreation Committee on September 26
The following representative teams were submitted by the selectors for Saturday next (the South Otago teams will arrive by the 11.20 p.m. express and return by the 4.40 p.m. train):— A Grade, to play South; Otago A on Oval No. 1, at 2 p.m.—Goal, R. Brown (Glenross); backs, A. Marsh (Bounty). N. Morgan (Seacliff): halves—P. Allan (Bounty),’ L. Leplne (Bounty). E Anderson (Seacliff); forwards—A. Corrigal (Bounty), C. Middleton (College l B. McFle (Bounty), J. Smith (Otago), R. Rusbatch (Momona): reserves, J, McLaren (Momona). L. Barnes (Momona). C Grade, to play Seacliff, at Seacliff (the players are asked to meet at the main entrance of the Station at 11.15 a.m., and will return by the 4.20 p.m. express).— Goal, A. Gray (Kings) Players in all three grades must wear navy gymnasium frocks and white blouses, and tlie A Grade will wear navy caps.
Umpires have been appointed as follows -Otago v. South Otago, at Oval. No. 1 (senior), at 2 p.m., Mr T. Hulholland; Otago v. South Otago, at Oval No. 2 (junior), at 1.30 p.m.. Mr J. Leith; reserve umpires. Messrs T. U. Finder and S. P. Todd; Otago C v. Seacliff, at Seacllff, Mr E Coker and Mr B Graham.
