GENERAL PERSHING’S VIEW
"It is our 'duty, as we Americans are given power to see our duty, to give every aid to the helpless and the needy,’’ said General Pershing, in a speech on behalf of the Red Cross “ But we, as a nation, should go farther than this. The Allies are fighting a war for civilisation. They are holding our front line, and we have a vital concern in the outcome. We should send not only food, clothing and medical supplies, but also arrange to send aeroplanes, artillery, small arms .and ammunition in unlimited quantities. There is no time to lose, The Allies need every encouragement it is possible for us to give; Let us open our hearts and give. give, give in Christian sympathy and in response to the tremendous needs that are staring us in the face. Let us do so promptly and enthusiastically. There should be. there must be no delay.”
