DAMAGE IN LONDON RELATIVELY SLIGHT (By Wireless) DAVENTRY, Sept. 9. (Received Sept. 10, at 1.30 a.m.) A United States Agency correspondent sums up the damage in the two latest raids on London as heavy, but not serious in relation to the size of the city. " It is no worse," he says, " than a bad cut on the face while shaving." BERLIN RESIDENTS .; GOING TO BED EARLY (By Wireless.) DAVENTRY, Sept. 9. Berlin is preparing in grim earnest for future attacks from the air. The residents are instructed to go to bed early to get some sleep before the raids start, and to set their alarm clocks so that they will all be in their shelters by midnight. - ; In Italy the raids are also being taken seriously, manufacturers in Turin and Milan having been instructed to provide shelters for their employees. DISTURBANCES IN THE HAGUE POLICE CHIEF REMOVED (By Wireless) DAVENTRY, Sept. 9. The police chief at The Hague has been removed from office because it' was alleged that he did not take sufficient measures to protect a parade of Dutch National Socialist youth which was r,un into by a group of cyclists "with deliberate intent." There have been heavy clashes between Nazis and anti-Nazis in The Hague since the police chief's removal. ~ .•.-/ ; RAID ON ALEXANDRIA NO MATERIAL DAMAGE DAVENTRY, Sept. 9. "■■[ (Received Sept. 10, at 1.30 a.m.) Alexandria was raided to-day by Italian bombers and the anti-air-craft defences went into action. It was apparently aimed against the British warships in the port. A few bombs fell outside the. city, but there was no material damage, and the only casualties were in'juries to nine persons caused by flying glass.
