ASSOCIATION'S REPORT The fifty-fourth annual report of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association says it is gratifying to record that the past season, in spite of the war, was a very successful one. Many difficulties would have to be faced in the coming year as a large number of players would be on active service; and while the association's activities would no doubt have to be considerably modified, it was felt that there was an obligation to keep the game going so that the men who were away could take it up again on their return. The report notes with satisfaction that the game continues to progress in the primary and secondary schools, and remarks that the improvement noticeable among the young players augurs well for the future of lawn tennis in Otago. The coaching of promising players nominated by the clubs had again been carried out by Mr T. Brooks in a very painstaking manner. The financial position in present circumstances could be considered quite satisfactory, and it was hoped to place the finances in an improved position when the war was over. The various tournaments and competitions held during the year had been attended by a large measure of success. PINE HILL CLUB , The annual meeting of the Pine Hill Lawn Tennis Club was held in the Pine Hill School recently, when the •president (Mr A. C. Notman) presided over a good attendance of members. Moving' the adoption of the annual report, Mr Notman congratulated the club on the past season's activities. Miss Pat Beard was presented with the trophy given by Mr P. George for the most-improved player in the club. The presentation was made by Mr D. L. Ritchie, the patron of the club. The opportunity was also taken to present Mr R. W. Lander, who is on transfer from Dunedin, with a suitable gift in appreciation of his valued services as secretary of the club since its formation. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron. Mr D. L. Ritchie; president, Mr A. C. Notman; vice-presi-dents, Messrs E. J. Gray and A. E. Dawson; club captain. Mr H. H.
