ORKNEY AND SHETLAND SOCIETY
The monthly social of the Orkney and Shetland Society was held on Saturday evening. The president (Mr A. B. Fraser). opened the social with a hearty welcome to the members and their friends and referred to the gift of a cake to the society by one of the members on the occasion of his birthday. The evening was spent in dancing, interspersed with the following items:—Songs, accompanied by steel guitar, Mr Harvey Jamieson; banjoes, Messrs Ditchfleld and Campbell; songs, Mr W. Stevenson, sen., " Bonnie Prince Charlie " and " The March of the Cameron Men ": Mr Jack Parker, " Lights of London" and "Grandma Said." The winners of the " movie waltz " were Mr and Mrs A. Caudwell. Mrs Neil Johnston played the accompaniments. Music was supplied by Messrs Fraser and Hargreaves. Mr G. R. Borwick acted as M.C. for the evening. '
