BEFORE VICTORY COMES

FIGHTING AND SUFFERING MINISTER’S DECLARATION LONDON, Feb. 16. , Mr Olher Stanley, Minister; of War, inspected British troops in a forward area. Interviewed, he said: “We must fight and suffer. The severest struggle undoubtedly faces British troops here. It is absolutely absurd to imagine that the Germans will go down without trying out their war machine to the fullest extent. lam not a pessimist, but victory won’t be easily won.” •Mr Stanley described the New Zealanders and Australians in the Middle East as magnificent material. They might- have to fight alongside troops from Britain “in whatever theatre of war may be necessary.”
