WOMEN’S BOWLING

ASSOCIATION TOURNAMENT PAIRS FINAL TO DUNEDIN The final of the Pairs competition in the Otago Ladies’ Bowling Association’s tournament was played on the Logan Park green on Saturday afternoon in excellent conditions. The finalists were Mesdames Stewart and Gregory (Dunedin)- and Mesdames Currie and Whale (Mornington). who fought out a very close game, the Dunedin pair winning by the narrow margin of 19 to 16. Mesdames Stewart and Gregory started off well, and when five heads had been played were eight up. but the Mornington players won the next three ends to reach a score of five. The Dunedin pair then increased their score by three in the next two ends. Mesdames Currie and Whale overhauling them rapidly and scoring five in the following three heads, A good three in the fourteenth head gave the Dunedin pair a handy lead, and another three at the seventeenth placed them in a winning position. Although the Mornington players scored occasionally, and finished with a two in the final end. their opponents won by, 19 points to 16. Scores: Mesdames Stewart and Gregory
