CONDITIONS .BECOMING sir. UNSETTLED The following is the official weather forecast for the Dominion;— The meteorological situation is dominated by an anti-cyclone which stretches from Queensland to. New Zealand, but which has a series of depressions moving along its southern side Indications are for:— Winds.—Fresh but decreasing southerlies in the East Cape area, and moderate to strong northerlles in the, southern half of the South Island; otherwise winds light to moderate and variable. Seas—New Zealand waters. Hough in Foveaux Strait and, about East Cape, but decreasing in the latter area; slight or moderate elsewhere. Eastern Tasman Sea' Strong north-west to west winds and rough seas in the southern portion; light to moderate variable winds and moderate seas in the central and northern portions. Weather.—For the most part fine. • Some showers at first, however, in the Poverty Bay-Bay of Plenty area, and conditions probably becoming unsettled in the far south: widespread frosts toj night, but day temperatures milder WEATHER IN DUNEDIN •‘V z The weather was fine and mild on Saturday, the maximum temperature being 58deg. The weather yesterday was fairly fine, with a cloudy sky. To-day, conditions were dull In the morning, with a clear sky in the afternoon. The ..wind was southwest to south, and was moderate. The barometric pressure rose the reading at 5 p.m. being 30.061 n. , - WELLINGTON, Sept. 17 Yesterday was fine and sunny, with a cool southerly breeze. To-day was also brilliantly fine, but again a light southerly breeze kept the temperatures rather cool. At 3 p.m. to-day the temperature was 48.7 deg and the pressure was 1021 millibars. CHRISXCH yRCH. Sept. 17. The week-end was fine and mild, with almost continuous sunshine both yesterday and to-day. There was a light southwest wind yesterday and a strong easterly to-day.
