MILTON Rugby Football Brilliant weather prevailed on Saturday for the match between the Toko Club’s present and past players, played on the Toko Domain Ground before a large number of supporters The past players clearly demonstrated that they had lost little of their original skill, and, except that they tired as the game progressed, they put up a very creditable performance in holding the present players to an 18 to 17 win. Three members of the club took turns at refereeing. In the evening a social evening was held in the Pipe Band room, 46 members being present. Until the arrival of the president (Mr U. Walker) the chair was occupied by Mr J. Murdoch, and a lengthy toast list was honoured, most of the speakers referring to the value of social gatherings in bringing past and present players into closer contact. Several offers of services as coaches for next season were made, and as a result of a suggestion made by the president, a fair sum was contributed for the purpose of entertaining the Third and Fourth Grade players next Saturday night. During the evening items were given by Messrs W. Taylor (piano-accordion), L. Healey (song), T. Bedford (bagpipe selections), and T. and I. Whitaker (accordion and ukelele). The gathering terminated with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne,” Personal Mr George Melville, who has been a member of the office staff of the Bruce Woollen Company during the past 10 years, has received an appointment as accountant with the Otago Electric Power Board.
