“Some children are placed in great danger when allowed to use electrical connections in school for the purpose of putting on a kettle,” said Mr J. W. Mudford at the meeting of the Wanganui Education Board. Mr Mudford said that the children did not know how to use the electrical connections properly, and at one school he went into he was horrified to find an electrical connection with the plug of flex connected to a plug in the wall and the other end lying in a pool of water. “ If anyone had picked up that cord they would have been in danger of being electrocuted,” he said. The board’s secretary, Mr G. N. Boulton, was instructed to send a letter to school committees pointing out the danger of letting children use the electrical connections.
