THE LOEN DISASTER
SEVERITY OF TIDAL WAVE BOATS CARRIED FAR INLAND LONDON, Sept. 15. (Received Sept. 16, at 1.45 a.m.) The Times Oslo correspondent, who flew over the scene of the Loen savaianche, describes a once huge timber-covered promontory cut bare as if by a knife. The severity of the tidal wave is shown by the fact that a small lake steamer was wrenched from its anchorage and deposited 300 feet above water level, while another steamer, which was stranded in the 1905 avalanche, was carried 150 yards farther inland.
