THE COMMERCIAL ASPECT AN APPOINTMENT DISCUSSED (From Oub Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Sept. 15. The possibility of the appointment of the Rev C G. Scrimgeour to an official position in connection with the establishment of commercial radio stations to be controlled by the Government is the subject of comment in parliamentary circles at present, but no official information can be obtained of the Dosition Mr Scrimgeour is the founder and director of the Friendly Road Broadcasting Station in Auckland, which is at present under offer to the Government for purchase as a future commercial station It is generally anticipated that the first commercial station from which direct radio advertising will be permitted will be established in Auckland. , .. Discussing the matter to-day the Prime Minister (Mr Savage), vyho ir also Minister of Broadcasting, stated that the question of subsidising and purchasing the existing B stations had still to be finally decided, although provision for the necessary finance*would be made in the Supplementary Estimates.
