Tuesday, September 15 (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS John William Forrester, a statutory first offender for drunkenness, was fined 20s. in default 48 hours' imprisonment. OBSTRUCTING THE POLICE Melvin Jack Forrester pleaded guilty to obstructing the potfce.— Senior Sergeant Packer said that at 8 p.m. on Monday Constable Mitchell received a complaint of a disturbance in Carroll street. When he arrived the fight was finished, but four men were engaged in an argument. He arrested John William Forrester, the man concerned in the previous case, and while he was taking him to the station the defendant, a son of the arrested man, tried to take him away.—The magistrate imposed a fine of 20s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, stating that he would take into consideration the fact that the defendant was the son of the arrested man and had acted impetuously. AFTER HOURS TRADING Annie Margaret Hope, licensee of the Robert Burns Hotel, pleaded guilty to selling liquor after hours, and Anna Margaret Auld pleaded guilty to supplying liquor after hours.—Senior Sergeant Packer said that the police found seven men drinking in the private bar. The licensee was in the bar and her daughter was behind the counter. They admitted the offences and stated that the men had dropped in casually after the test match. The licensee had been in business for 16 years and had not been in trouble before.—The licensee was fined £3, with costs (3s), and the other defendant was fined £2, with costs (3s). REMAND GRANTED

Harry Walter Reid was charged with attempting to obtain from the Drapery Supply Association, Ltd., an overcoat and clothing, of a total value of £4 10s, by falsely representing that his name was Harry Bush and that he had been employed for four years by James Ellison, "Moneymore," Milton.—On the application of Chief Detective Young the accused was remanded until Wednesday next, bail being allowed in his own recognisance of £SO and one surety of £SO.
