STRIKES IN FRANCE

Salengro, induced the textile strikers to evacuate the mills, the employers refused his mediation because he is the Socialist Mayor of Lille, and hitherto a conspicuous leader in campaigns against the employers. The unions thereupon reoccupied the mills last night without incident. The position is again very acute. In response to M. Salengro’s appeal M. Blum left for Lille to-day, and is conferring with the parties.
