MONEY BY FRAUD
SEVEN DAYS IN GAOL (Special to Daily Times) TEMUKA, Sept. 14. At the Temuka Magistrate's Court this morning a young man named Ernest Wade, a labourer, was brought up on two charges, one of incurring a debt for board and lodgings by fraud, and the other of obtaining the sum of £ 110 s from Mr A. Hedley, a farmer, of Seadown, by falsely representing that he required the money to purchase blankets. The accused pleaded guilty to bom charges, and on the second charged elected to be dealt with summarily. The police evidence showed that the accused had three previous convictions. On the first charge he was convicted and ordered to make restitution of the amount incurred for board, and on the second was convicted and sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment, with hard labour. Messrs A,. E. Smith and E. Blackmore were the presiding justices.
