MILTON Harriers The Toko Harrier Club finishes its winter season’s activities next Saturday afternoon, when the local senior and junior championships will be decided. Women’s Hockey The hockey season in South Otago terminates next Saturday afternoon with the annual open seven-a-side tournament, to be played on Bruce grounds and Toko Domain. Entries for the tournament close to-morrow. Erection of Bridge The Public Works Department has accepted the tender of Messrs Wood and M'Cormack, of Dunedin, for the erection of a bridge over Salmond’s Creek ford, leading to the property formerly used as a Government poultry farm at Milton, and portion of which is now owned by Mr John Campbell as a poultry farm. The contractors expect to commence the work this week. Tar-sealing Main Highway A start has been made by some of the Public Works Department's staff with the preliminary work on deviations of the main highway between Milton and Clarksville, in preparation for tar-sealing the additional section between Milton and Balclutha. A camp site has been established on Mr W. Light’s property, just south of Milton.
