SALARIES INCREASED IN ITALY VIGOROUS POLICY OF SELF SUFFICIENCY ROME, Sept. 12, (Received Sept. 13, at 8 p.m.) Cabinet has decided to increase the basic salaries of State employees by 8 per cent. Extraordinary appropriations are announced for the army and navy air forces “ in order to raise military preparations to the necessities of the international situation within a limited period.” Italy’s policy of self-sufficiency in raw materials is being vigorously continued. Special measures are being taken to raise the birthrate, including prizes for twins.
