(Fbom Due Own Cobbebpondent.) MILTON, January 13. RIVER BOARD ELECTIONS. Nominations for the triennial election of members ..f e Tokomairiro River Board closed at noon on Tuesday. The following candidates were nominated and elected unopposed:—For >ruce County Subdivision (four members) —Messrs K. H. Mich lie. John Allison, A. Tweed, and Robert Clark (new member); for Milton Borough Subdivision -Messrs Alex. Kennie George Dabinett. and Robert M Leod <new member). Of the retiring members. Messrs A. E. Stewart and John Miller did not l ek re-election for the borough and county subdivisions respectively. BOWLING. - The second round of the South Otago Association’s matches will be resumed on Saturday afternoon, with the following fixtures: —Milton . Kaitangata, at Kaitangata; Balclutha v. Stirling, at Stirling; Benhar, a bye. Four rinks from Milton Club will journey to Kaitangata. PERSONAL. After his farewell service at Holy Trinity Church, Lawrence, last Sunday evening, the vicar, the Rev. James Morland (formerly of Milton), was presented by the vestry with a handsome travelling rug as a slight of appreciation. The congregation’s good wishes were voiced by members of the vestry and suitably acknowledged. The Rev. , and Mrs Morland and family left for the new parish at Kurow on Monday. f . The Rev. A. M'Neur, of Tokomairiro Presbyterian Church, will leave on Saturday on his annual holiday vacation. During his absence the services at Milton will be conducted by the Rev. D. S. Mason (formerly of Clinton) and Professor Gumming (of Knox College, Dunedin). FIRE BRIGADE. Senior Foreman John B. Gibb has been appointed as the Milton Brigade s delegate to attend the United Fire Brigades' Association’s conference, to be held at Gisborne next month. The Milton Fire Bridage has decided to send a team to compete in the. Southern Districts’ Fire Brigades’ Association’s competitions, to be held at Gc early in March. Superintendent Wells has been appointed ai the bridage’s delegate the Gore conference. GIRL GUIDES. A Girl Guides’ 10 days’ training camp, under the charge of Lady Marjorie Dalrymple, is being conducted at the Waitaki Girls’ High School Hostel at Oamaru. The following are attending the camp as represervatives from the Milton Guides Mrs I. C. Vidal (district commissioner), Miss Hislop (captain of the second Milton company). Miss D. Nissen (“Brown Owl Lader of the Brownies), and Miss Shiela Vidal (“Tawny Owl,” assistant leader, of the Brownies). - GENERAL. There are at present six patients in Milton Hospital, three males and three females. The sister in charge (Sister E. M. M’Donald) acknowledges with thanks gifts of fruit, flowers, etc., during the past m iTie’ Milton Municipal Brass Band purposes giving an open-air performance in the Gardens on Sunday afternoon. On the following Sunday the band will visit Dunedin. when an open-air programme will be presented in the Gardens in conjunction with the St TCildn Band.
