Tomoana, and Whakatu respectively, resolutions were passed rescinding the recent motion of no confidence in the Allianc of Labour., CHRISTCHURCH. January 12. The engine of the 8 a~m. train from Ashburton to Christchurch broke down this rrorning between Dromore, and Chertsev, delaying several other trains. Eventually the engine of the Invercargill goods express was transferred to the Ashburton train, and Christchurch was reached over an hour late. TIMARU. January 12. To-day Nicholas Parker Bracefield was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment for driving a ear while drunk.
