OTAGO TRAMPING CLUB.

Sunday was a delightful day for the Otago Tramping Club’s outing to Mount Charles. Eight members caught the ferry boat and had an enjoyable trip to Portobello. After landing, the party set off for Hooper’s Inlet, which was followed until the slopes of Mount Charles were reached. The billies were then filled ami a start made to ascend the hill. Eventually the trig was reached, and there the billies were boiled and lunch partaken of. One of the party left for Cape Saunders lighthouse and the rest, after a spell, divided up. Three descended to Hooper’s Inlet, crossed the mud flats, ascended the slopes of Sandymount, skirted Sandfly Beach, had tea near Beattie’s Beach, ascended Highcliff, and returned to town by Tomahawk. Two of the party followed the road round Hooper’s Inlet to the Sandymount road, thence to the top road, and Anderson’s Bay. The remaining two returned to Portobello, where they caught the ferry.
