CONGRESS THOROUGHLY ALARMED. (Press Association— By Telegraph—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, January 8. Congress, thoroughly alarmed by tho spread of the corn borer, has appropriated £2,000,000 to fight the pest.—Sydney Sun Cable. A New York message of January 7 stated that the European corn borer, which spread to the Eastern States, causing consternation among the farmers, has now found its way to Illinois, 200 miles further west than last year, and threatens tremendous destruction through the middle west corn States,
