James Morlancl, vicar of Holy Trinity Church, Lawrence, who was formerly stationed at Milton and Roxburgh, is, for health reasons, exchanging parishes with the Rev. Mr Stace, of Kurovv, rml condDcted . his farewell services at ’ Lawrence yesterday. The Rev. J. Morland ai-d family will leave for Kurow this week. Captain G. R, Rotherham and Mi's Rotherham have been reappointed to the charge of the Milton Salvation Army corps Captain Rotherham was fo'-meriy stationed at Milton, but was compelled to relinquish duty and enter the Uinedin Hospital to undergo an operation for a recurrence of trouble from severe wounds received whilst on active service. MOTORISTS’ TODR. A Milton motoring party, comprising five ladies and three men, returned home yesterday after an extensive tour through the South Island during the holiday season. Leaving Milton on Thursday morning prior to Christmas, the party travelled in two cars via Christchurch, to Nelson and Pieton, thence through to the West Coasi visiting Westport, Hokitika, Ross, Greymouth, and the Franz Josef Glacier, whore the party stayed two days exploring the beauties of Nature’s wonderland. They returned via the Otira tunnel, placing their cars on the railway, resumed their journey <o Christchui'ch from Springfield thence homewards. TERRITORIALS CAMP. Ist Battalion Southland Regiment will go into camp at Castle Rock near Lumsden, on Wednesday, January 19, for their six days’ annual training. The Lawrence and Tuatapore units will comprise the advance and rear parties and proceed to camp on Monday, January 17 returning on Friday, January 28. The Milton-Kaitangata-Balclutha units will proceed by the Wednesday morning’s express to Gore, and join the Kingston branch tram for Lumsden, where they arrive at 2.27 p.m. They will march three miles to the oamp, minus their baggage which will be conveyed by a later train to Castle Rook railway station. The camp will be under the control of Colonel Hargest, of the Southland Regiment. The Milton unit will travel to camp under Lieut. W, Chiles. Captain Down (Gore) will act as camp adjutant. BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS. Evidence of faith in the future of Milton as a business centre are noted in the fact that tenders are being invited for extensive additions and alterations to a local drapery establishment. A commencement was also made this morning by the contractors in preparation for the erection on a section in the northern portion of the main street of two shops with dwelling-rooms attached, STOCK SALE. Consequent on the Milton monthly stock sale date falling too early after the holiday vacation and the paucity of entries of stock, the sale has been postponed indefinitely.
