AUSTRALIAN LADY PIPERS.
REPORTED DEATHS UNTRUE. Early last September it was reported in the cabled news from London that the members of the Australian Lady Kilties Band were the victims in a smash between three motor cars at Bowling, near Glasgow, when the party was proceeding on a trip to Loch Lomond as the guests of the Glasgow Highland regalia makers. It was stated that three members of the band were killed, and five others who were injured conveyed to the Glasgow Hospital. _ Under date of October 15, Mr T. Buteman (Rothesay), however, published an account of- the band’s appearance at a concert in the Winter Gardens, from which it appears that only one member of the band (Sergeant Florrie Yates) was absent owing to injuries received in the smash. Three ladies, however, who were seated in the same car as Miss Yates, were killed. The band now numbers seven pipers and three drummers, under Drum-major William Darwin, compared with 10 pipers and five drummers when the band toured New Zealand.
