EUROPE'S GUARDIANS
FRANCE AND BRITAIN.
FRIENDS WHO QUARREL.
LONDON, April 26. The Paris press regards the visit of the King and Queen as a further proof of their innate courtesy and friendship towards France. Le I igaro says: “The French and British peoples prodigiously inclined both to quarrel and to understand each qther—to quarrel lecause they have divergent temperaments, habits and anxieties, to understand because their common civilisation and relations have resulted in making them inseparable companions. “As guardians of Europe's body f hey have constant disputes, which arc sometimes bitter, but as soon as a storm threatens they come together. Each would be distressed if deprived of the company of the other. “Since the Conservatives have returned to power in Britain, the divergences have not disappeared, but the comradeship of the two countries has acquired the most positive warmth.’*
