’Pho weekly meeting of the economies class was held in (he Bower Oliver fvoom, Otago University, on Wednesday evening of this week. There was a good attendance of members, who elected Mr W. M. Bradley and Mr W. Brown to the positions of class chairman and librarian respectively. In his lecture, Dr Fisher dealt with trade fluctuations during tho nineteenth century, passing in review the 14 turning points in British prosperity which occurred between tho outbreak of the French Revolution at the close of tho eighteenth century and tho beginning of the Great War of 1914. An animated discussion followed the loolure. Tho points raised were for the most part concerned with pn)*enl-d,iy hanking practice.
