IMPORTED BUTTER
BOXES OR TUBS? THE POWER OF HABIT. Frau Association —By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, May 5. Mr Brigg, retiring president of the Manchester Wholesale Provision Association, suggests that the Government should confpel all imported butter to be packed in 561 b boxes, instead of in tubs. He Joints out that until recently Continental butter fetched 6d per lb over the best New Zealand butter, though there was no difference in the value. Traders explain that the difference in price is solely due to women in certain districts, who'do not believe that they arc getting their money’s worth unless they see the butter adled from tubs. They always thought that the best butter came from tubs, and they cannot change their old-established habits. Mr Brigg adds : “New Zealand cannot ship in tubs owing to the freight charges and the difficulty of stowing.”—Sydney Sun, Cable.
