(Received May 6, at 7.15 p.m.) In reply to questions, Mr Winston Churchill . said that legislative sanction would be given to new Imperial preference proposals in the Finance Bill this year. Asked whether the Bill was drafted so that the opponents of preference could make an effective amendment. Mr Churchill replied that he could not anticipate the publication of the text of the Bill—Reuter.
