A meeting of the members of the late Town Board was hold yesterday morning in the room over the Engine-house, Princes sheet. There were present Messrs Ham (in the chair), Barnes, Smith, Redmry ne, Bastings, Grey, Lovell, Turner, and Murray. , The mooting was called hv Messrs Bastings and Grey, who have been appended Commissioners hv the Superintendent, iu order to take the opinion of their late colleagues in the Board as to whether they would be justified in tilling the offices to which they had boon appointed, and whether they should hand over to the .Superintendent, under protest, tiie property of the board. The general feeling expressed by the members present seemed to be that after the stand taken by the Board against the action of Hie Government, it would bo derogatory to the honour of the members if any of their number accepted the office of Couimisisoners. . . . A meeting of iho City Guards wa’s held last night in the new Victorian Hall, Octagon, for the election of officers. Lieutenant A. Clove occupied the chair. The result of the election was as follows:—Capt. A. Clevo; Lieutenant, G. U. Mathieson; Ensign, George L. Davies.
