CLOSING HOURS OF SHOPS.

DRAPERS AND “LATE NIGHT.” DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 5. Important matters concerning the closing hours of shops -were discussed with the Minister of Labour (the Hon. G. J. Anderson) to-day by a deputation representing the New Zealand Drapers’ Federation. \ The deputation said that the abolition of half-hour on tbo late nights was harsh, and they asked for its reinstatement and also that the late night falling in Christmas and New Year weeks should be reinstated. One speaker said that the whoie of the trade was writhing under tne present award. The Minister replied that there was no chance of getting an amendment through the present parliament. He thought the Arbitration Court had blundered in making the award apply to the country districts and seaside places.- Ho could offer them no hope, and he advised them to attempt to reach an agreement with the employees.
