Mr G. Dabinett, Milton, wrote asking the council to extend the road at Sally's Gully to Rocky Valley. At present the road was only formed to the top of thehill, and from there the old road was too steep a grade for carting: on. The writer was of opinion that a fair grade could bo obtained by making a deviation.—The inspector was instructed to submit a report to the next meeting. VALEDICTORY. At the conclusion of the meeting the Chairman said that he v.-as occupying the chair for the last time. Although they had had their little differences there was no ill-feeling between the councillors. At the end of the current year the council had a credit balance of £5400, which was most satisfactory. Of that amount rates totalling £7OO remained unpaid, but a great proportion of them would be paid later, which would leave the council with an approximate credit of £6IOO. Trie council owed amounts totalling £6OO, and, when these were paid, the credit balance would be roughly £5500. Cr Driver congratulated the chairman on the able way he had conducted the meetings, and moved that the council accord him a hearty vote of thanks for his services during the past year. Cr Scott seconded the motion and referred to the great amount of work which the chairman had done. The motion was adopted amidst applause. CaiUorcia can boast of 300 centenarians.
