A MOTORIST’S COMPLAINT. n) THE EDITOR. Sir, —One often sees reflections on motorists in letters to the press, but motorists have causes of complaint against members of the public who are often very careless in their methods of making use of the portion of the highway devoted to wheel traffic. For example, they too often stand right out from the pavement when waiting for a tram, long before the arrival of the tramcar, instead of remaining on the footpath. This is particularly noticeable at the corner of Water and Princes streets, and is often positively dangerous. As I am writing, I may suggest that it would be better and safer if the Portobeilo and other buses, instead of starting from Manse street, started from the front of the Empire Buildings or the Grand Picture Palace. At present it is awkward for any motorist coming down Stafford street and turning northwards into Princes street to meet one of these buses coming out of Manse steet, especially when one or moie of the butchers’ big vans Ls unloading at the corner. —I am, etc., Motorist.
