EOEBURT PARK TROTS. By Sentinel. The rain of the pgst few days softened Forbury Park, and training operations have been held up on the track. The track, however, generally makes a quick recovery from a heavy saturation by rain, and fine weather will probably have the going in good condition for the opening of the mooting. In fact, if the favourable conditions which sot in yesterday afternoon continue the going should be excellent. A special horse train arrived from Christchurch and intermediate stations yesterday evening loaded with over 50 horses engaged at the Forbury Park meeting. Mr J. R. M’Kenzie, the owner of Acrqn and Great Bingen has arrived in Dunedin to participate in the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting. _ . . A considerable amount of interest is being taken in the figure likely to be made by Clonmel when under the hammer on Friday. Clonmel is one of the few highclass trotters in New Zealand. If Forbury Park is soft and sloppy, but the weather is fine overhead. SO tins of petrol would make sound going, and the cost would prove a mere bagatelle when the influence good going would have on the principal revenue of the meeting is considered. It is on record that a sloppy track in America became converted in the course of a couple of hours into good going by using burning petrol to evaporate the moisture. . . . The West Australian Trotting Association issued an elaborate _rao ebook in connection with its championship meeting. The hook for the final day of the meeting contained photographs of Mr J. Trengrove (owner of Great Hope), J. Bryce (driver of Great Hope), A. Bryce (driver of Taraire), and other drivers and owners. The book contains a good deal of useful information in addition to the essential details of the fields in each race. Out of compliment to the visitors from the dominion, one event was called the Now Zealand Handicap. DUNEDIN RACES.
