Lord Allenby has issued a proclamation stating that persons* found guilty by court martial of possessing bombs and explosives will lie liable to the death penalty. A now Zaghlulist Committee announces that it will continue within the limits of the law its campaign for honour and liberty, and declaring that bloodshed cannot urwe the cause. It claims tliat isolated acts should not be allowed to affect the case, which is founded on justice.—A. and N.Z. Cable. MESOPOTAMIA AND PALESTINE. HEAVY LOSS TO BRITAIN. LONDON, March 8. The Morning Post’s Cairo correspondent says that, in view of the agitations in Britain for withdrawals from Mesopotamia and Palestine on financial grounds, it is felt that the British Government’s hands arc tied. As regards Egypt, it is believed that the British taxpayers would raher evacuate (Egypt than pay for garrisoning it until the country is fit to relieve England of all local government responsibilities.—A. and N.Z. Cable. POISONENjC SUSPECTED. EXHUMATION IN CAIRO. LONDON, February 27. The British Consul at Cairo has ordered the exhumation of the body of the markets inspector, Mr M‘Leod, who died in November 1921. Poisoning is suspected.
