CITY POLICE COURT
Wednesday, Mabch 7. (Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.) Alleged Receiving.—Harold Lindon M ivor, a young man, was charged with receiving one box of 600 cigarettes, valued at £2 10a, from George Jack Noel Benfield, knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained.—Detective Palmer said that other charges were pending, and asked for a remand for a week.—Tho remand was granted, and Mr Irwin’s application for bail refused. Maintenance.—Charles R. Barton Brown was proceeded against by his wife for a maintenance order.—Mr Barron appeared for the. applicant, and explained that the proceedings were taken under the Maintenance Order Enforcement Act, 1921. Defendant had left his wife many years ago and was now resident in England ’‘living like a gentleman.”—A provisional order for the payment of £2 per week, £SO past maintenance, and solicitor’s foe (£2 2te) was made.
Drunkenness. —A first offender was con victed and discharged.
