UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES.

a n-i j.- AUCKLAND, August 1. l. affiliation case in which S man who had divorced his wife was charged with being the father of an illegitimate child of the wife, born after the divorce, came before the Police Court this morning. The defendant pleaded not guilty. Sub-inspector Wohlmann stated that the parties were divorced in November, 1916 decree being made absolute on March 6, 1917, and subsequently the woman and her former husband lived together in a house at Ellerslie for 12 months or more before another child was born to the woman, rhe mother died from influenza in November last, and the child was committed to on industrial school. The case for the police was that for more than 12 months prior to the birth of the child defendant and his divorced wife lived together. The case was adjourned for further evidence.
