Tho Rise and Shine dredge recommenced work oil Tuesday night last "week, after the boiler had been cleaned. There was a fair body of wash at an average depth of about 45ft on a bottom of soft white clay, and tho prospects wero similar to those of tho previous week. WAIHI RETURNS. Tho Wailii Gold Mining- Company during tho period ended July 12 crushed and ■treated 16,037 tons of ore for a return of bullion of an estimated value of £26,259. Compared with tho return for the corresponding period of last year, when 16,148 tons yielded bullion of the actual value of £32,502, this shows a decrease of £6243. The total won from the mine to dato is £12,432,571, and dividends, etc., paid to sliareholders total £575,350 14s sd. The following information has been cabled to tiio London office of tho company: —No. 8 level: Tho north branch of the Martha lodo has been intersected at 96ft from the Martha lode in the horse north-west crossout. Its course is 48deg true and dip 1 m south. It is 9ft wide. The first sft assays 16s 2d a ton, and the last 4ft £2 6s a ton. No. 11 level: .The north section, of the Empire lodo has been crosscut at 100 ft west of the Lion crosscut. The first 4ft to tho south assavs £1 3s 9d a ton and tho last 4ft 9s 8d a" ton.
