THE LEAGUE GAME. (Pee United P«kss Association.) , r , AUCKLAND, July 31. lhe New Zealand League team, which returned by the jtfahia, landed this afternoon.
Referring to tho Australian tour, Mr Oakley, one of tho managers, said that with the exoeption of the second Queensland match, the referees liad been satisfactory. Pho reports that Waddell's leg was broken were not correct. Walsh and Lain* are still incapacitated. Mr Oakley mmarked th?£ football in JNow South Wales was not up to the previous standard. In the forward division tho iS;ew Zealanders predominated, and poor goal-kicking was responsible for two of the New Zealand losses in the tests. Mr Oakley added that if the shipping strike permitted a team would leave Sydney to tour New Zealand between August 13 and 10.
